We’ve got the cure for any mid-week blues you might be feeling today. Tarrus Riley has released a new video for his Chimey Records chune “Gimme Likkle One Drop” and it is pure vibes. The video features Riley setting up and performing at a chill outdoor party up in the hills above Kingston, where young children and elders alike are singing along. Among those making cameos are Large Up friend and lead actor of Better Mus’ Come, Sheldon Shepherd, among other members of his group, No-Maddz. Watching this will definitely transport you to a happy place—if you’re not already there. Check it out:

The queen of reggae and former member of Bob Marley’s I-Threes has made hits with everyone from Beres Hammond to Buju Banton to Bob Andy, many of which are collected on her newly released Marcia Griffiths and Friends double CD. When we found out Marcia was planning something special of her own for Valentine’s Day this year, we connected with Marcia to select 10 of our favorite reggae love duets—meaning songs performed together by male and female vocalists, on the topic of love—for a special Valentine’s Day Toppa Top 10 countdown. Rebel Salute is Jamaica’s most significant annual reggae festival. While Sting bottles all of its hype into a single night, Sumfest splits its focus between pop and dancehall and Jazz and Blues is something else entirely, Tony Rebel’s gathering sets the tone for the year in reggae and also dancehall. This year’s two-day edition of Rebel Salute (held Jan. 18 and 19 at Richmond Estate in St Ann) was one of the most diverse and star-powered editions yet with performances from Sizzla, Busy Signal, Beres Hammond, Tarrus Riley, Aswad, Chronixx, Richie Spice, I-Wayne, No-Maddz, Protoje, the return of Terror Fabulous and, of course, Tony Rebel and his wife, Queen Ifrika. A Samoan who was raised in Compton, the now Hawaii-based J Boog doesn’t have the typical reggae star pedigree. Over the last few years, though, he’s grown an increasingly large following, making his presence felt on some of the hottest reggae riddims—Kingston 13, Summer Scheme, Live in Love and Moving, to name a few—and collaborating with Jamaican artists like Peetah Morgan, Richie Spice and Tarrus Riley.
