Red Fox is one of the pillars of dancehall music in New York City. Sure, he originally hails from St. Catherine, Jamaica and came to fame with the classic “Down in Jamaica” (alongside singer Naturalee) but the rough-voiced deejay has called NYC home for decades.

Coming into December’s Okayplayer Holiday Jam, we had quite the task before us. Last year we brought out Shaggy and Patra, among others, for an all-star session with The Roots that turned out to be the hip-hop legends’ first-ever dancehall jam. How could we possibly outdo that?

Double the reasons to party, double the vibes. Has someone said that before? Welp, we’re saying it now. As New York’s famed Rice and Peas party celebrates its fifth anniversary in style at Santo’s Party House on Monday, June 4, newly launched record label The Ranch Entertainment will be celebrating its birth. Ranch artists Shaggy, Rayvon and Red Fox will take the stage while the Rice and Peas crew (Max Glazer, Micro Don, DJ Gravy, DJ Maya, Orijahnal Vibez) holds down the decks, and Massive B’s Jabba hosts. Oh, and the party will also be the set of a video shoot for Rayvon’s “Selecta,” so come looking proper.
