‘Press Up’ Again: Stylo G + So Shifty Pay Tribute to Poison Chang

German remix dons So Shifty recently connected with U.K. dancehall’s top shotta, Stylo G, for an original production that’s also a tribute to the deejay’s late father, Jamaica’s Poison Chang. “Press Up” is a new version of one of the best-known songs by Chang, who died in 1998. Stream So Shifty and Stylo’s version of “Press Up” below, and check out the 1991 original (produced by Steely and Clevie) here. The single is out Dec. 5 on Germany’s Supersonic Sound.

Fashion Records, the U.K. record label which helped put British dancehall on the map with Smiley Culture’s “Cockney Translation” and “Police Officer” and later released hits from Cutty Ranks and Frankie Paul among others, has risen from the ashes. Fashion in Fine Style: Significant Hits, Vol. 1, a 20-track compilation featuring Cutty Ranks’ “The Stopper,” Dee Sharp’s “Dub It Up” is now available on iTunes.
