Monday is Jamaica’s big 50th anniversary, and Rice and Peas will be celebrating the momentous occasion in fine style at Westway in NYC. Get all the details from the Spliffington-designed 1962 Jamaican stamp flyer you see here, and meet us and the R&P crew (Max Glazer, Micro Don, DJ Maya, Orijahnal Vibez and LargeUp’s own DJ Gravy) there. Just in case you don’t know how Rice and Peas parties go down (and why you need to be there if you’ll be in NYC), get familiar with this photo series from the 5th anniversary party at Santo’s Party House in June, and LargeUp’s R&P-shot webisodes with Collie Buddz and Leftside.

On Wednesday night, Large Up brought the bashment to Winter Music Conference with the first ever Miami edition of New York’s famed Rice and Peas party, featuring a special performance from Mr. Vegas. Rice and Peas DJs Orijahnal Vibez, Max Glazer, DJ Gravy and DJ Maya set the tone for the night with top-notch dancehall selections while super MC Micro Don got the crowd hype with his mic chatter, Mixpak Records chief/Vybz Kartel producer Dre Skull took things to the left with some tropical bass and Trinidadian swimwear designer Elysia Persad debuted her Colly Dolly brand with a brief runway show. Everything, of course, built up to Mr. Vegas’ set, which featured the expected medley of classic hits like “Heads High” and “She’s a Ho.”
