Video: Popcaan + Friends Hit The Bike Track For “So We Do It”

Words by Jesse Serwer—

Popcaan So We Do It

New York producer Dre Skull released the well-regarded Kling Klang riddim in 2012 and, to keep the momentum going in 2013, his label, Mixpak Records, is releasing a trio of videos for singles on the rhythm, which was voiced by Beenie Man, Tifa and others. First up is “So We Do It,” from Popcaan, whose upcoming debut album Dre Skull tells us he’s working on. Shot by Andy Capper, director of Snoop Lion’s Reincarnated documentary, “So We Do It” features the stunting of local Kingston motorcycle crew Crazy Bikerz, who do their best to steal the show as Poppy rides shotgun. Nope, no daredevil maneuvering from Poppy. Dem call him di Raving King, not the Biking King.

Kingston Noir: Pusha T’s Jamaica-Set “Blocka” Video

Words by Jesse Serwer—

Pusha T at Matthews Lane

Pusha T recently traveled to Jamaica to film the video for “Blocka,” his just-issued single featuring Popcaan and fellow GOOD Music artist Travis Scott. Shot in and around Matthews Lane, the garrison community once ruled by the feared don Zeeks, the clip features the usual usual trappings we’ve come to expect when American rappers go down a yard for videos: bandana-covered faces lurking in the darkness, guns and go-go dancers. (To be fair, there’s also kids, higglers and a jerk vendor). It seems that Pusha made the rounds while in JA, so perhaps some more inspired visuals may soon be forthcoming. In the meantime watch the clip here:
