Kingston Noir: Pusha T’s Jamaica-Set “Blocka” Video

Words by Jesse Serwer—

Pusha T at Matthews Lane

Pusha T recently traveled to Jamaica to film the video for “Blocka,” his just-issued single featuring Popcaan and fellow GOOD Music artist Travis Scott. Shot in and around Matthews Lane, the garrison community once ruled by the feared don Zeeks, the clip features the usual usual trappings we’ve come to expect when American rappers go down a yard for videos: bandana-covered faces lurking in the darkness, guns and go-go dancers. Watch and, uh, enjoy:

“I have no voice but I am not silent. I use tools beyond my physical body to communicate. Across the years my voice has been expressed mostly through the written word via a computer, and now, in recent years it has become my artwork, more than words, that has satisfied my deep need to connect with people in an authentic way.” – Astro Saulter

Wild Belle Keep You

Within a year, indie rock band Wild Belle has caught the attention of many – first with their track “Keep You,” then with “Take Me Away.” Eventually, Wild Belle’s Natalie and Elliot Bergman signed a three-album record deal with Columbia Records, and the rest is pretty much history.
