Air Bolt: Watch Usain Dunk

Words by Jesse Serwer—

Bolt All Star Game

What can’t Usain Bolt do? Dunking is apparently not outside of the fastest man alive’s capabilities. The 6″5, 100- and 200-meter world record holder put on a show at the NBA’s Celebrity All-Star Game in Houston last night, with a breakaway dunk at the end of the first quarter. Sure, he traveled and, sure, his Eastern Conference team ultimately got pounded by Kevin Hart’s Western Conference-representing squad but Bolt’s dunk will be making highlight reels year round. Watch the dunk below, and check out more highlights from the game here.

Fashion Fridays: Project Runway’s Samantha Black

Words by Emily Shapiro

Project Runway has a history of featuring talented designers with roots in the West Indies, with Trini winner Anya De Rogue, and last year’s talented tailor from Guyana, Ven Budhu. The current season is proving to be no different. Bronx native and Brooklyn-based designer, Samantha Black, is killing the contest with her innovative designs and impeccable taste. Success is nothing new for Black, who’s parents are both from Jamaica, as she’s already made a name for herself with her sick bad collections for her own line, Sammy B Designs. In addition, Ms. B has worked with some amazing designers like Michael Kors and Alexander McQueen and dressed some serious divas like Keri Hilson and Ashanti.

LargeUp Sessions

We’ve got a whole heap of guests stopping by the LargeUp Sessions on RadioLily.com tonight: Los Rakas, New Kingston and author Mike Alleyne. Though they come from very different places— New Kingston are a three-piece band from NYC via Jamaica, and Los Rakas are a hip-hop duo from California’s Bay Area, by way of Panama—both groups come to the LargeUp Sessions fresh off the Dark ‘N Stormy Tour with Collie Buddz, which crisscrossed the Western US this fall. Meanwhile, Alleyne, a professor at Middle Tennessee University, will discuss his newly published Encyclopedia of Reggae book with us.
