Video: Wayne Marshall + His Army “Go Hard”

Words by DJ Theory—

Brand new video for one of the biggest tunes of the year from Wayne Marshall featuring—here we go—Aidonia, Damian Marley, Assassin, Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel. Now a lot of times these extra-stacked collabos can lead to an unorganized mess of verses with no real cohesion, but all of these heavy hitters in dancehall deliver their own razor sharp lyrics to this undeniable Jamaican anthem. Note the *scene missing* reel during Kartel’s phone verse…

Audio: Hear Pusha T’s Popcaan Collaboration, “Blocka”

Words by Jesse Serwer—

Pusha T Blocka

Clipse/G.O.O.D. Music rapper Pusha T has been known to spend his Sundays quoting gunman lyrics, drop references to dancehall classics like Nardo Ranks’ “Burrup,” and generally give Jamaican music his full respect. We’d heard that the MC recently visited yaad to shoot a video and link with the Warlord at Bounty Sundays but it looks like he’s come back with more than that. In what is definitely the highest-profile (and perhaps most brief) cameo to emerge thus far in his career (we’re still waiting for his Snoop Lion feature), Popcaan gets a look on Pusha’s new G.O.O.D. single “Blocka,” produced by Chicago’s Young Chop and also featuring Travis Scott.  Stream here:

Video: I-Octane & Bounty Killer “Badmind Dem A Pree”

Words by DJ Theory —

I-Octane just unleashed the brand new video for his wicked single with the warlord himself Bounty Killer titled “Badmind Dem A Pree,” and it should be a big one. Octane has made his views on badmind and jealousy quite evident through a string of singles the past few years, however this collaborative effort from the OG—sounding sharp as ever— definitely hits the mark, reminding anyone who might be keeping too close a watch of the team that they always see dem a pree. Pree for yourself below, but maybe keep a few yards distance if yuh know what’s best…

Most people think of Snow as the first Caucasian male dancehall artist. Little do they know that prior to Snow there was Johnny Nice and even before Johnny there was Dominick.

Audio: Bounty Killer’s “No Long Talking” + Jah Snowcone’s Antibiotic Riddim

Bounty Killer, Wayne Marshall and Federation Sound

Bounty Killer’s new one “No Long Talking” is one of our favorite tunes of the past month, and our pick for best Bounty song in at least a few years—it’s the Warlord back in top form. We can’t say for sure if it was recorded before or after his recent dust-up with Tommy Lee Sparta, but if that’s what it took to get him back on the level, than bring on the clash!

You Rate It: Tommy Lee’s “Goathead” Video

Words by Jesse Serwer—

If you follow dancehall, you’ve probably heard about Bounty Killer’s recent comments about Tommy Lee Sparta, and his “Gothic Dancehall” style. Lee has now issued his response in the form of the new single “Goathead,” going after the Grung Gaad with a statement even stronger than we’d imagined. Tommy Lee’s emergence as dancehall’s hot-button artist has been swift and, up until now, he’s avoided clashing. In fact, when I met him this summer he intimated to me that the intent of his demonic lyrics is to serve as a warning for other artists to stay far from him, rather than to be taken literally.  It will be interesting to see if he’s cut out for this clashing thing, when Bounty inevitably responds. Now that all eyes in dancehall are on him, many people will be coming for him, even his own camp.
