Words by LargeUp Crew—

Our friends 28 Stars & Co‘s newly launched spring line includes a very fresh, limited edition tee inspired by the city of Kingston, Jamaica. The Florida and UK-based lifestyle apparel brand enlisted our bredrin Walshy Fire of Major Lazer/Black Chiney fame as their spokesmodel for the wicked V-neck Kingston Cite tee, and we’re already seeing it all over town in Miami. Cop the shirt here, and enter discount code “LargeUp28″ for 15 percent off.

LargeUp Premiere: SOJA x Collie Buddz, “She Still Loves Me” (Prod. by Supa Dups)

Soja featuring Collie Buddz, She Still Loves Me

SOJA have become one of the biggest names on the US reggae scene over the last decade, touring relentlessly and dominating the iTunes reggae charts. The Cali/Hawaii reggae circuit SOJA are often associated with isn’t something we usually cover here on our Caribbean-focused corner of the Internet. But SOJA (who actually hail from Northern Virginia, not Cali) piqued our attention recently by spending some time at Circle House Studios (aka Circle Village), the Miami studio owned by Roger and Ian Lewis of Inner Circle, where Black Chiney’s Supa Dups helped inject some yard vibes into their mix.

The first track to emerge from those sessions, “She Still Loves Me” pairs SOJA with Collie Buddz over a crisp, Supa Dups-produced riddim, as vocalist Jacob Hemphill breaks some bad news to his old girl’s current beau.

Major ‘Smoker’: Aidonia’s Weed Anthem Gets a Lazer-Powered Remix

Words by Jesse Serwer—

Walshy Fire x Major Lazer x Aidonia

Aidonia recently dropped a new weed anthem, “Joker Smoker,” and we hear it’s hitting in Jamaica with the strength of 1,000 ounces of high-grade. Produced by Yosuke “Pancho” Kawamoto of Japanese duo Gachapan, it’s built around a sample of Triston Palmer’s 1982 classic of the same name. Though it’s only been around a week, it’s already making some serious waves.

Audio: Walshy Fire + So Shifty Remix “Bruk It Down”

Words by Tasha Brown—

Just when you thought Mr. Vegas’ “Bruk It Down” couldn’t be mixed anymore, Walshy Fire and So Shifty have put a fresh spin on Vegas’ year-old-yet-still-going dancehall hit over the holidays. Walshy and So Shifty are no strangers to dancehall remixes, but the Jamaican born, Miami-based selector/mic man and the German production duo took this one—actually, there’s two, slightly different remixes—in a surprising direction that recalls Brazilian baile funk and Baltimore club, and is driven by the twangy sound of a jew’s harp. When two (well, three) dancehall gurus merge on an already-banging Mr. Vegas track, this is what it sounds like:
