It’s springtime in the Northern hemisphere so a warm breeze was bound to find it’s way into our earspace. Enter Esprit de Corps—not to be confused with Canadian indie rockers Esprit de Corpse. An American duo with rocksteady ambitions consisting of vocalist Shock Mama Cherry and producer Fred Card, their arrival is quite timely, plugging into the lovers rock revival currently being spearheaded by Hollie Cook. “Is It Too late” drops sweet soul vocals over an appropriately updated Studio One riddim, with a load of ambience, and vintage-sounding hip-hop drums. Could be just what the doctor ordered for Memorial Day Picnic—what do you think?
